Currently Hodgepodging

It's time for our favorite link party of the month - a double dose of goodness with Amy (Currently) and Joyce (the Hodgepodge.)  I'm a little late with my blog post, but I know all my readers will give me grace.

Prime Purchases

Hi friends.  Welcome to the November edition of Prime Purchases.  I had a very random mix of items this month, so let's take a look.

Halloween

Hello Monday, hello friends!  Is anyone else in shock that it is already November?  I haven't thought about Christmas gift shopping or plans at all yet, and it seems like I usually have started this process by now.  Time to make some lists!

Monthly Digest

As I seem to say every month, where did the time go?  October flew by, and now November is around the corner.  Tonight we will fall back, and the evenings will start to feel dark and cozy.  Let's take a look at the month.

Links I Like

It has been several months since I did a "Links I Like" post, so I decided to squeeze one in for the end of October.  Now that I have set my Bookstagram account aside, I hope to have more time for daily posts like this one.  Let me know what you think about these links.

October Books

This October may just go down as my slowest reading month in quite awhile!  I read 4 books, and they were all just fine.  For some reason, I just didn't feel motivated to read (or even listen) to many books, and I hope I get my bookish vibe back soon!

On a another note, I decided to set aside my Bookish Texan Instagram account for now.  I started it one year ago and the account grew quite a bit.  It was a lot of fun...until it wasn't.  I was spending SO much time on my phone, and I decided that wasn't what I wanted to be doing.  I wasn't even posting on the blog as much because the Instagram account was taking so much time.  One day I woke up and just decided I really didn't feel like posting anymore.  But I will continue posting my books here on the blog, so please stick around for that!

Here are my books for October.

The Weekend {Zoo, Early Birthday, and Movie}

Hey y'all - Happy Monday!  I hope you had a good weekend!  Ours was good with some sunshine and celebrations.  Let's take a look.

Friday Favorites

TGIF!  Hey y'all!  I hope you had a good week.  We started the week off with a lunch meet-up with Ginny and Jimmy.  We met in the Woodlands again at Cafe Express, and it was nice for Jack to visit with them before his move.  Michael and I voted, and I had my last morning Bible Study on Wednesday.  On Thursday, I volunteered at the library and did some cooking.

Unfortunately, on Wednesday we had the surprise of a dead battery in Jack's truck.  And the truck was going to be picked up for shipping on Thursday.  So we scrambled into action and got a new battery for the truck.  It was a blessing in disguise that this happened here instead in a new town.

Here's a look at some faves this week.

The Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hello Wednesday, Hello Hodgepodge friends!  I didn't mean to take another little blog break, but the days seem to be passing so quickly.

This weekend, I battled my cold/cough and I feel like I finally turned a corner on Monday.  This morning I felt well enough to go on my walk and enjoy the temperatures in the 50's. We watched lots of football, and also finished the East of Eden series on Netflix (loved it!)  And Jack went to College Station for the to see some friends before he leaves for NY this Sunday.

Today, Michael and I voted (early voting) so we have that checked off!

Let's take a look at this week's questions.  Thanks to Joyce for hosting this fun link party every week.

Friday Favorites

TGIF!  How was your week?  I had a good week, although I am battling (another) cold.  Nothing major, probably just allergies that developed into some congestion.  We bought new tires for the truck, I volunteered at the library, and Jack had the movers here packing up his things.  I also rearranged some furniture in the house; it's a work in progress.  Here are some favorites from the week.

The Moving Truck

Almost exactly two months after college graduation, a team of movers came to the house to pack up Jack's things and move them to New York.  They arrived on Monday morning and quickly packaged his furniture, clothing, stereo equipment, music and books.

Moving a single guy to a one-bedroom apartment was an easy job for this professional crew.  They had everything packed and in the truck in less than 3 hours.  Of course, it was a little easier because many of his things were still packed in boxes from the move in August.

Now our house feels empty and spacious, and Jack will be living out of his suitcase for the next two weeks.  I know it was a relief for him to check this item off the list.

Are you wondering how much of the truck was occupied with his stuff?  I'd say less than 25% of the truck!  The movers said that his things would be loaded onto an 18-wheeler with other loads and moved to New York.  Once it hits upstate NY, his things will go into storage until he gets his apartment on the 26th.  Interesting logistics!

One other interesting tidbit.  He had just bought a 65" tv.  Instead of moving it in the box it came in, they had a special crew build a wooden crate to transport the tv.  They also made a crate for his computer monitor.  The cost of making the crates was probably far greater than the value of the items!

The whole process brought back memories of our international move - the only time we have used professional movers.

After the movers left, we celebrated with MORE Mexican food.  This time we went to my all-time favorite place Lupe's!

Fall Wardrobe Refresh

Hello friends, how was your weekend?  Ours was good - lots of football watching!

On Saturday, I volunteered at the library as a "judge" for a word search competition.  I wasn't expecting this to be a popular event, but there were 25 contestants ranging in age from their 20's to 70's.  The competition was fierce, with three rounds.  My role was to record the time that they finished and write it on their puzzle.  It was fun to see such a wide range of ages and stages come together for an event.

On Sunday, we went to church and then out to lunch.  Jack spent the day organizing his things because the movers are coming on Monday!  It is hard to believe his time at home is almost over, and all his things will be on their way to New York.  Hopefully all will go smoothly with the packers/movers since he has a lot of music equipment.

I enjoyed a little shopping with all the deals last week.  My cold-weather wardrobe is pretty limited since we only get a few months weeks days of chilly weather here.  This year I have several cold-weather trips coming up so I decided to spruce up my fall wardrobe.  Here's what I picked up.  The prices were insanely low during the sale, but they are still not too bad if you want to take a look.

Friday Favorites {Travel}

TGIF!  I hope you had a good week.  This week really flew by for me.  I volunteered at the library, had lunch with a friend, went to Bible Study, went to the dentist, and went to the movies.  Today I am walking with a friend, and tomorrow I'm "judging" a word search contest at the library.  I'm not quite sure what to expect, but I'm happy to help out.

After our trip to Ireland, I thought of a few travel favorites that I wanted to share.  Let's go!

Currently Hodgepodging

Hello - here I am linking up with our favorite sets of questions from Amy and Joyce.  Let's see what I'm currently Hodgepodging.

Prime Purchases

Welcome to the October edition of Prime Purchases.  I have just a few buys from the past month, but be sure to check out my Amazon storefront to see my previous purchases that are on sale.  The deals this time are really good, and this is always the best time to buy any Amazon devices like Kindles, Echo's or Fire sticks/TV's.  Of course, Walmart and Target have joined in the fun.  I placed an order for some sweaters at Walmart - each was less than $15.  I also picked up this waffle henley top.  Here are some links if you want to browse around.

Life Lately {Dallas and Sound of Music}

Hey y'all!  Happy Monday.  I hope you had a nice weekend.  I'm wrapping up a little Life Lately today, featuring a quick trip to Dallas and our first Houston Broadway musical for the season.  Let's get started!

Monthly Digest with the Hodgepodge

I'm trying a new format for my monthly digest this time around.  I kind of made my own "What's Up Wednesday" set up that I will use to summarize my month.  At the end of today's post, I'll be answering this week's Hodgepodge questions from Joyce.  Let's see how this goes!

September Books

I had a pretty good mix of books this month, with ratings of 3, 4 and 5 stars.  All of my selections were on audio this time around.  I am going to work on sitting with a physical book and trying to regain my attention span.  We will see!  I didn't read anything at all in any format for the week that I was on vacation.  Here's hoping that October is cozy and bookish!  How was your reading month?

Hello Monday {Fall Decor and Jack's Home}

Hello Monday, hello friends!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Can you believe we are already in the last few days of September?  This month really flew by with our big vacation and my birthday too.  And now we are coming up to October and we all know the "ber" months will fly by!

For today's post, I'm wrapping up the happenings of the last week through my camera roll.  I'll be joining up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday.

58 and Feeling Great {The Hodgepodge}

My week got off to a great start with my birthday on Monday.  More about that below!  On Tuesday, I volunteered at the library and went to Costco.  We had the most empty nester dinner ever with leftover mashed potatoes and vegetables, along with Trader Joe's empanadas in the air fryer.  The empanadas were delicious!  On Tuesday night, Jack started his long journey home from Europe, flying from Berlin to Dublin.  Today he will fly from Dublin to Houston with a connection.  We can't wait to see him tonight.

Let's get started with the questions from Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond.
