Ireland 2026: Connemara and Dublin

After our spectacular hawk walk at Ashford Castle on Tuesday, we stopped in for a snack at the tea/gift shop.  Then we headed out to drive and see the area.

Ireland 2026: Ashford Castle

On Monday afternoon, we drove from Galway to Ashford Castle.  It was so nice to have just a short drive for the day!

Ireland 2026: Dingle Peninsula and Galway

On Sunday, we had our longest driving day ahead of us with the Dingle Peninsula and then driving to Galway.  We had fun telling the kids about our trip in 2001 when we drove as far as we could and then found a farmhouse with a vacancy sign and stayed there!  Most of our lodging we had reserved ahead of time, but on the 2 days we drove from Dingle to Donegal on the north coast, we just drove as far as we could.  Fun memories!

We had a delicious breakfast at Gleann Fia and then headed out for the 1 hour drive to Dingle.  Unfortunately, our weather was cloudy and rainy again.  As they say in Ireland, "no bother!"

Ireland 2026: Ring of Kerry

On Saturday of our Ireland vacation, we headed out from Killarney to drive the Ring of Kerry.  You may remember from my trip planning that I had wanted to recreate our trip by driving the Dingle Peninsula.  But I had to pivot since they were holding a marathon over there on Saturday.  The Ring of Kerry is a much longer drive.  I'm glad we did it, but it was A LOT of driving, made even more intense when the weather turned about halfway through the day.

Ireland 2026: Cashel and Midleton

On day 2 of our trip, we woke up at the Butler House in Kilkenny.  I think we all slept well after a long travel day and then pushing through the jet lag until around 9pm.  On the agenda for Friday - the Rock of Cashel, Midleton Distillery and driving to Killarney.
