It's time for our favorite link party of the month - a double dose of goodness with Amy (Currently) and Joyce (the Hodgepodge.) I'm a little late with my blog post, but I know all my readers will give me grace.
If I were picking a big thing, I would say I'm thankful for my family and my faith.
But since we're picking a small thing, I'm going to say coffee in the morning and a Diet Coke or Dr. Pepper in the afternoon.
2. Chrysanthemums-pansies-burning bush-ornamental cabbage-camellias...your favorite in an autumn garden? Would we find any of these in your yard/garden this year?
I have some "volunteer" mums that have come back from a previous year. Our temperatures are just starting to drop, so I may think of putting in some cyclamen after Thanksgiving. They usually do well all winter here. I had camellia's at our old house, and they always bloomed in January.
3. If you could clear out or organize one physical space or mental habit before the year ends, what would it be?
We are currently working on cleaning out and organizing the "man cave." This is mainly Michael's project, but I am directing assisting. We ordered this console from Costco, and it was delivered today. The quality is so outstanding. I love it!
4. Brussel sprouts...love 'em or no thank you? If you said love 'em how do you like them prepared?
No thank you to brussel sprouts. In fact, the smell of them makes me feel nauseated. Michael loves them though!
5. It's reassuring to know that____________________.
This is my Father's world. I don't do politics here on the blog, but I will say that the election on Tuesday was the first time in my adult life that Texas has gone blue. There has been lots of talk about candidate quality and the affordability crisis, and I get that. But I can't help but think about how the Texas population has grown by 10 million in the past 20 years, and 2 million in the past 4 years alone. It feels so different from when I moved to Houston back in 1992...the traffic, the people, the development, the attitudes. So different.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Jack had a good first day in his job. He is adjusting to the shorter days and colder weather, and his coworkers have told him they expect a harsh winter this year. He is settling in, and we can't wait to see him in a few weeks. This photo was on his first day of work.
Currently...
No-vember - Saying no to :: the heat. I still wore shorts and a tshirt on my morning walk, but it was almost cool enough for a light jacket. It felt so refreshing!

I was surprised to see Texas go blue. When you mentioned that the state has grown by 2 million people in the past four years, it reminded me of my oldest stepdaughter, (she doesn't have anything to do with us) who is a left woke activist. After 2024 she moved with friends from Seattle to Columbus, Ohio, motivated by political considerations, which shows how these shifts are happening in many places. The Midwest too.
ReplyDeleteI live in California...nothing more needs to be said. It's sad but leave my state? No way. Some have to stay and take our state back or at least TRY.
