Paralympics - Athletics

I seem to be a little behind on blogging.  The back-to-school routine is in full swing, with piano lessons, school supplies, swimming, school lunches, and more.  Soon to come, we will add basketball, horseback riding, and a Bible Study to the mix.  So the computer has taken a backseat lately.

Last week, I went with Jenny and Christine to see the Paralympics Athletics (known as track and field in the US).  I really enjoyed seeing the Olympic Park for the first time.  The athletes were just incredible.  We saw wheelchair racing, shotput, long jump, and vision-impaired racing.  The vision-impaired events were the most impressive.  The long-jumpers had a guide at the end clapping or making noise to guide them to the long jump.  The runners had a guide that ran along side them, attached with a bungee at the wrist.  The times for the blind runners were so fast, just a few seconds slower than the regular Olympic times.

The stadium was so impressive!

Someone (a volunteer?) greeting the crowds.  The friendliness of the workers and volunteers was  refreshing!
