Paralympics - Wheelchair Basketball

Last weekend, we went into the city for our final London 2012 event--Paralympics Wheelchair Basketball.  This was held at the O2 arena in North Greenwich.

We started the day with a boat trip from Waterloo down the Thames to the arena.  Since it was such a beautiful day, this was a great alternative to taking the tube.

Once at the arena, we had a wide variety of restaurants to choose from for lunch.  The kids saw TGIFriday's and instantly wanted a little taste of America.  We had a little "England" moment when we tried to eat there and were told they wouldn't open for another 10 minutes.  Not "Do you want to sit at one of these outdoor tables and look at a menu until we open?"  Just a quick "We're not open til 12:00."

So we found another place to eat and then headed in for the game.  It was so amazing and fast-paced.  It was disappointing to see more empty seats.  We had a fun day out!

All the Olympic workers were so nice and friendly.  I think the good weather helped.

Before we found out we couldn't eat at TGIFs

Lots and lots of empty seats :(

Our general admission seats...plenty of room at the top of the arena
