Jack is going to...

Four years flew by in the blink of an eye!  It seems like just yesterday we drove Jack to Auburn in a Toyota Camry for dorm move in.  Everything fit in that car with room to spare!

His time at Auburn was filled with new friends, football games, basketball games, dining at the Edge, one year in the dorm, three years in two apartments, playing in a rock band, playing worship for church, playing bass guitar for many camps and gatherings, one year as a DJ for the radio station, and one towed truck.

There was lots of studying, Aldi grocery shopping, and time at the coffee shop.  There were some great professors, and some not-so-great.  There were a few flights home, and many drives back and forth.  There were trips to the beach for spring break with his church group, and visits to various lakes in the area with friends.  There were lots of meals at Auburn Drafthouse, Chick Fil A, Foosackly's, and Little Italy.  And a Chinese restaurant in the mall.

We are so proud of Jack's hard work to earn his mechanical engineering degree.  And we are excited about the opportunities that he has for the next few years.

Last fall, Jack completed an internship with a major corporation.  While he was there, he received a job offer for their leadership/management program.  He will start this position later this year.  It is a training program, and he will work at three different facilities around the country for 8 months each.  The company assigned the first location, and he will get input on the second and third locations.

So later this year, Jack will be moving to...

UPSTATE NEW YORK.

The cold weather will definitely be a shock, but we are all excited about him living in a new area of the country.  We can't wait to visit!

Here are some graduation pictures of Jack.

The Auburn Creed means even more now that we have a graduate!

  2. Upstate NY is beautiful, but winter there is something else. I guess you get used to it, and he's not there forever so I bet he'll enjoy it. Such an exciting time of life for him.

  7. Congrats to Jack! That is so exciting! Do they find him housing? I bet you will love visiting Upstate NY. My old work colleague had family there and talked about the finger lakes and the wineries there. I hope he enjoys resting and traveling for a bit because it's well deserved!

  9. It’s such a tender season, isn’t it? Watching them graduate and then head off to start their first big job brings out every emotion at once. You raise them to be confident and capable, and then one day they actually go out and do it. From one mom to another, you’ve done an incredible job guiding him to this moment, and it’s beautiful to see him stepping boldly into his next chapter. Congrats to him and you! I still can't believe its been 4 years!

  10. Wow, wow, WOW!! What a fun announcement. Since it's only 8 months I'm sure that's do-able, right? Will it at least span the summertime or beautiful fall? One of mine is going to Brooklyn (I know NY as well as NYC is closer to us then to you) and we are not ready to be that far away!! Oh well, what a great opportunity for him and kudos to a company that wants to invest in the next generation of leaders :)
